begin? Feelings associated with ASMR

have been around for a long time, but it has only become something that people have recognized and talked about in the past decade. It dates back to 2009 when ASMR artists (sometimes referred to as asmrtist) whilesinglife uploaded YouTube videos. Richard said that the word ASMR was invented a year later. From there, it exploded, and today's search on YouTube shows millions of asmr-related results, including videos from artists such as ASMR darling and soft-spoken asmr, each with more than one million subscribers.

Many of the most popular YouTube videos are usually whisper videos for about 30 minutes, but this is only one type of ASMR trigger. It should be noted that some videos contain sexual undertones (which is the essence of the Internet), but this is not the reason why most people watch these videos. According to a 2015 poll by Swansea University, people usually watch ASMR videos to cope with stress or help them sleep.

Richard said that the sedative effect of ASMR in science means that ASMR may be helpful to anxiety, depression or insomnia in clinic. There's a lot of anecdotal evidence to support this view, just browse the comments on YouTube to find the evidence.

But this kind of evidence is not completely valid in the medical field. & "In fact, we don't know what happens in the brain to trigger this feeling," said James lloyd, MD, who published an article on ASMR in the Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine in 2017.

Lloyd said only a few studies have been conducted so far, partly because only a small number of people have experienced asmr, making it difficult to study it. In addition, when noisy magnetic resonance imaging is not conducive to people's relaxation mood, it is difficult to record what happens in the brain, people need to enter this state in order to stimulate response. < p > < p > but the preliminary results are interesting. The previous study of 2015, cited by Swansea University, found that participants reported that ASMR helped temporarily relieve symptoms of depression and chronic pain and make people feel better. Researchers are also exploring the differences between people who have experienced ASMR and those who have not. A 2017 study published in Frontiers in Psychology surveyed 290 people who had experienced ASMR and 290 people who had not completed the five personality scales. If some people are more likely to react. Compared with the control group, the ASMR group scored higher in two aspects: open experience and neuroticism.

In another 2016 study, the researchers from the University of Winnipeg examined 11 people who had experienced ASMR and 11 people who had not experienced asmr, and found that the ASMR group had increased connectivity to Rest-Related parts of the brain.

But there are still many studies to be done. For example, no one knows how many people have experienced asmr, how ASMR compares to traditional treatments for anxiety and insomnia, and what neurotransmitters and hormones contribute to this response, Richard said. But at the last point, Richard suspects that endorphins, oxytocin, serotonin and gamma-aminobutyric acid are at work because they are all related to relaxation.

How do you try asmr

to see if you can experience it? Richard suggests watching some YouTube videos. He recommends voices from Whispersred Asmr for whispering videos, as well as voice oceans for voice and video (think of crumpled paper and typing on keyboards). Or you can download ASMR podcasts or applications, such as ASMR players, silk ASMR and ASMR 6. Before listening, make sure you are in a quiet, relaxing space and are willing to try different triggers to see what works. & "Looking for specific incentives is like looking for your favorite food in a buffet: you should take a wide range of samples to find the best incentives for you," Richard said. Please note that according to a social neuroscience study in 2015, tinnitus usually takes a minute.

But now, don't expect to replace your usual treatment plan with a nightly chat on YouTube. & "I encourage people to first talk to clinicians about any illness they think they may have, and then ask if ASMR is included in their treatment plan," Richard said.
