When a person's body attacked his own cells or organs because he could not identify his own cells or organs as part of the body, it was said that he suffered from autoimmune diseases. Some of these diseases include lupus, arthritis, Graves disease (thyroid disease), scleroderma, myasthenia gravis, autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura and many other diseases.
