It is difficult to maintain a broken scapula without severe trauma; however, the proximal clavicle and humerus are bones considered part of the shoulder, which are usually fractured. Your doctor will want to fix your shoulder and put your arm in the sling until the bone heals. If you have a shoulder fracture, follow the doctor's advice.

sling in many cases, the hospital will provide sling for your shoulder. Keep elbow and waist bent at 90 degrees. Tie the sling behind your neck and gently place your arm on the sling. The elbow should be comfortably placed at the closed end of the sling. Adjust the strap as needed so that you don't feel unnecessary pain and make sure your arm is at a 90 degree angle.

If you don't have an arm sling, you can make one. Find a cloth at least five feet wide and three feet long. Cut the cloth into triangles or fold it into triangles.
