Step by Step OF Flap Periodontal Surgery

When deep pockets are already formed between the gumline your dental care professional will recommend you for a periodontal surgery. Flap periodontal surgery or pocket reduction surgery aims to folds the gum back away from the tooth. The surgery is recommended in cases where the depth of the pockets already makes cleaning difficult and when scaling and root planting is unsuccessful.

The procedure begins with having small incisions in the gums under local anesthesia and next the entire area is carefully cleaned removing plaque and tartar and then bone is started to be examined. Bone is needed to be re- contoured to properly heal for more often periodontal disease causes bone loss. When bacterial plaque and tartar are already removed the infected tissues are also removed and smoothes the surface of damaged bones. Once the procedure is done, the tissues are sewn back into place. By removing and smoothing damaged tissue allows the gum tissue to better reattach to healthy bone. The procedure is being administered by your dentist.
